Cash allowance whilst in hospital

It’s not much fun being in hospital generally and if you’re away from home…it’s worse.

To make your hospital stay a little more comfortable, we’ll pay you $100 per 24-hour period in hospital, to a maximum of $3,000 per person, per journey. This means you can buy some extra magazines and puzzle books or you might even be able to grab a coffee from the hospital cafe – it’s on us - but check the coffee with your doctor first.

To be eligible for the cash allowance we need to have confirmed cover for your medical expenses and you must be required to remain in hospital overseas for more than 72 hours continuously. But if you’re in hospital give us a call, so we can assist you - because that’s what travel insurance is all about!

Who do you call?

The most important thing to do is not worry - we’re here to help you when you need us.

When calling from overseas, our emergency assistance team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on +64 9 359 1600.

If you’re calling from New Zealand, you can reach us Monday – Friday 8.30am to 5pm NZDT/NZST on 0800 800 571.
