Visiting New Zealand

Why you need cover in New Zealand

Travel insurance is one of the best ways to protect yourself overseas. Whether you're holidaying, catching up with family or travelling for work, our Visiting New Zealand travel insurance can give you the freedom to enjoy your stay in New Zealand with confidence.

Our Visiting New Zealand travel insurance is designed to provide comprehensive protection during your stay. We offer two cover options; an individual policy and a family policy:

Individual: a policy designed for either:

  • One person, or
  • One adult and any of their dependent children

Family: a policy designed either for:

  •  one adult, their spouse and any of their dependent children

Both policies include the following great benefits:

1. Medical and evacuation

Nothing can throw your travel plans into disarray like a medical emergency. Whether it’s a minor sprain or a serious illness, a visit to the hospital can be expensive and upsetting if you’re unprepared. That’s why our Visiting New Zealand travel insurance includes cover for medical and evacuation expenses.

It’s important to note if you are aged 65 years or over, there is a three week stand down which limits claims under Section 1 Medical & Evacuation to $5,000 per person, per policy.

As a visitor to New Zealand, you may also be covered by the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) if you’re injured in an accident, which can assist you in paying for treatments like GP and dental services. It’s important that you claim through the ACC for accidental injuries before you claim through your travel insurance.

2. Changes to your journey

Flight cancellations and last-minute changes are an annoying reality of travelling. Thankfully, our Visiting New Zealand travel insurance also includes cover for changes to your journey, if an unexpected event means you need to alter your travel plans.

3. Personal accident

We hope you never need to use it, but it’s important to protect yourself with comprehensive travel insurance that includes personal accident cover. Our policy includes cover for personal accidents that occur during your journey, including death and disablement.

4. Personal liability

Our Visiting New Zealand travel insurance includes personal liability cover, which is designed to protect you in the case that you’re legally liable or incur legal expenses due to negligence.

5. Rental vehicle excess

Exploring New Zealand in a rental vehicle is a popular way to enjoy the stunning scenery our country has to offer. Our Visiting New Zealand travel insurance policy offers rental vehicle excess cover to protect you if the unexpected happens on the road.

6. Cash and travel documents

Every traveler dreads having their important travel documents lost or stolen. Our Visiting New Zealand travel insurance policy includes cover for cash and travel documents, like your passport, so you can be covered in case disaster strikes.
