Danger or excitement…where’s the line?

There are so many options when it comes to travel - but there are some cases where making the right choice can really affect your holiday. Whether it’s jumping on a scooter, hitting the slopes or going for a run. Here are a few examples of smarter activity choices you can make on your next trip.

Kite surfing vs windsurfing

If you’re at home amongst the waves, there’s a good chance your holiday will include some water activities. We can’t cover you for kite surfing, but why not get out on a windsurfer instead? If you’re a keen surfer, you’re covered for that too. Just don’t go entering any professional competitions on holiday! We can even offer cover for your surfboard while it’s in transit.

Heli-skiing vs on piste

Skiing holidays are great! Enjoy the snow, get out on the slopes and relax with a hot drink at the end of the day. Even better, we cover skiing as standard in our policy - no additional payments necessary. While heli-skiing is great fun, we can’t cover you for it, so stick to on piste runs and enjoy your trip.

Hat vs helmet

While riding a scooter can be plenty of fun, it can also be dangerous. In many tropical holiday locations you’ll see plenty of tourists riding around without a helmet on, but this is one trend you should buck. Not only will riding without a helmet leave you without cover under the policy, but you could end up with some nasty injuries. Remember, you’ve only got one head, so look after it!

Travel advisory vs green light

It might not be the first thing you think of when planning your trip, but checking the government’s travel advice is important. If there’s a warning against travelling to your chosen destination, you won’t be covered to go there. But don’t worry, there are 196 countries in the world, so you’ve got plenty of alternatives to choose from.

Base jumping vs bungy jumping

For thrill seekers, there are plenty of exciting activities to make your holiday an adrenaline filled adventure! However, one such activity we can’t cover you for is base jumping - it’s just a bit too thrilling for us. If you want to get your heart rate up, how about bungy jumping or sky diving instead? Just be sure it’s with a licenced operator. Many bungy jumping spots are also in beautiful locations, so you can enjoy the view while you plummet towards it - safely, of course!
