What we cover

Our comprehensive TravelCare insurance includes cover for:

  • Unlimited medical and evacuation expenses that arise due to unexpected events while on your journey
  • Cancellation fees and lost deposits – increase your cover depending on the cost of your journey
  • Damaged or lost baggage
  • Personal items if they are stolen or damaged
  • Rental car excess should you have an accident
  • Emergency dental treatment
  • Funeral costs

When you protect yourself with a TravelCare policy, you also gain access to our worldwide emergency assistance team who are just a phone call away, and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Do I need travel insurance?

We encourage all those travelling overseas to get travel insurance. Without it, you’re leaving yourself and your family vulnerable. But don’t just take our word for it. Safe Travel state on their website that all departing travellers should protect themselves with travel insurance.

Some of our highest medical claims have topped $500,000, and even minor accidents can cost a small fortune in countries like the USA.

Unfortunately, medical emergencies aren’t the only thing that can spoil your trip. Pickpockets, scammers, cancelled bookings and delayed flights can all wreak havoc on your travel plans, potentially leaving you with a hefty bill to pay. That’s why smart travellers know that quality travel insurance is an important item on every overseas trip.

Visiting more than one country?

If you’re visiting multiple destinations, you can travel with confidence knowing that our TravelCare Single Trip Policy covers you for journeys of up to 12 months, across multiple destinations.

The destinations you visit can affect the price of your policy, depending on their risk rating, the cost of medical care in the country and their distance from New Zealand.

Annual Multi-Trip policy

If you’re planning on taking several trips a year, our Annual Multi-Trip policy might be a more cost (and time) effective choice than shopping around for travel insurance every time you travel. Once purchased, you’re covered for an unlimited number of return journeys overseas, over a period of 12 months commencing on your start date of insurance. You can choose to have journeys covered up to a maximum of 30, 60 or 90-day in length.
